Overview
Doudna and Charpentier's 2012 Science paper on Cas9 programming met Zhang's Broad Institute eukaryotic-editing filings, granted speedily 2014 and 2015. The US interference fight ended 2022 with both keeping their claims by technicality; Europe revoked Broad's in parallel disputes. Editing has cured sickle-cell patients via approved Casgevy therapy. Doudna and Charpentier took the 2020 chemistry Nobel. Zhang's patents anchor the commercial toolkit; the lawyers are still eating well.
